new digs

Why have we been MIA this time? Because last week we moved to Boothbay Harbor for the last few months of winter. We live in the top two floors of a very, very old house with gently sloping floors, cold-cracked window panes, and a little worn spot where hundreds of hands have held the banister. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to listen to Billie Holiday all day long, and I really would if it didn’t drive Zoe crazy. The house backs up on a little tidal cove which is home to an extended family of mallards and one little bufflehead. At least that’s what we’ve seen so far. We’re still getting used to walking Finn on a leash and (more importantly) cleaning up the two-pound consequences, but the route makes it slightly more bearable. Very slightly.

  1. Great pictures! Enjoy your few months of luxury- ya know, with things like heat and electricity! ;)

  2. Wow those are some lovely pictures! And I agree with you about Billie Holiday!

  3. Dreamy… How inspiring. I don’t know if you know this or not, but you are kind of awesome.

  4. What a lucky little place you have to spend the last few months of winter. Then, back to your yurt? Love the tunes on your blog! Makes me want to stay and peruse your archives while I listen for awhile. Have fun in your new digs! ~karen

  5. your temporary home sounds like magic…. we have an old farmhouse in Maine with a kitchen floor worn down around the knot holes; from all the feet who have walked before us; Such history in an old house. Someday perhaps we’ll even get to live there.

I love your Finn - Awesome doggy!

  6. I thought you might like to see another family who lives in a yurt, in Alaska of all places!
