helping hands

So as you probably know, Haiti’s looking at close to 200,000 deaths as a result of last week’s earthquake.  That’s a devastating amount of mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, children, and newborn babies that will be missed by the survivors, who on top of their grief, will have to take on the task of rebuilding their world.  They can’t do it without the help of the rest of us.  And of course, every one of us wants to help in any way we can.  Even artists and crafters, who more often than not are simply lacking the funds to send out to the charities, tax deductible or not.  What we do usually have in abundance, however, is leftover product.   Enter craft hope.   The lovely ladies over there have devised a cunning plan to allow us starving artists to lend a helping hand using the dexterity of our fingers and the production of our minds, and what they’ve created is a truly beautiful thing.  A craft hope for Haiti Etsy shop!   We donate the items, they send the proceeds to Doctors Without Borders.  They’ve received such overwhelming support since creating the shop that they’re only accepting listing donations until tomorrow before taking a break to redraft their battle plan, but that can’t stop you from shopping.
