my grassless lawn.

I said I’d post the yurt in sections, right?  Well, the first and most important section of any yurt is the land it lives upon.  Unfortunately, said land is actually grassless mud.  I’ve been waiting all summer long for a few truckloads of loam to be delivered and spread by a local (very local, evidently) contractor.  I asked for it in June, which was when I ordered my share of a very slow growing alternative aromatic lawn seed mix, and It’s now August 29th.  Those of you who dream of living in Maine, pay attention.  Mainers procrastinate like it’s their job.  His job isn’t to spread loam, his job is to make excuses about why he hasn’t yet spread loam.  Gah!  Meanwhile, remember that picture of Lucy covered head to toe in mud?  It’s getting to be a daily occurance.

Fortunately, there are parts of the land that haven’t seen the local excavator of doom and his endless supply of pure-clay fill.  I’ve made a loop trail through those parts of the woods, and not too long ago I took some pictures of the woodsy things that live there.  It’s all mossy and stuff.
